Preparing for study abroad.
An offer can open a door. Feeling ready for life and learning on the other side is another step.
What we are exploring
We are developing the idea of a focused session for offer-holders preparing to study in a new academic and cultural setting.
Possible areas of support
- Understanding unfamiliar expectations around discussion, independent study and asking for feedback.
- Preparing for everyday communication, cultural adjustment and building a sense of belonging.
- Thinking about practical questions to ask your university before arrival, and where to seek support.
Experience behind the idea
Our approach would draw on our founder’s experience of moving from Iraq to California through Fulbright and later to Oxford for her DPhil, alongside her teaching and mentoring background.
Content would be agreed around participants’ destinations and needs, with a clear distinction between personal experience and official institutional guidance.
